January 12

Monday- We played a lot of basketball for pday. We then cleaned our apartment up.
Tuesday- We showed up to a former investigators apartment complex. When we got there there was this lady who needed our help with something and she was explaining to us this long drawn out story. We then proceeded to tell her we couldnt help. We checked our planner to find the address. Well we go knock on the door. Guess who is there. This lady. We thought that it was pretty funny. We were going to have a lesson but she told us to go back later. After we went and saw a less active and read some general conference talks with him.
Wednesday- We had zone conference. It was so good. The main theme was faith. We talked about how faith without works is dead. We also talked about how we can get the members involved in the work.
Thursday- We did weekly planning. Then we went over to our recent converts house and held a Family Home Evening with them. It was super fun. We talked about obedience and we read the story of noah building the arc and obeying gods commandments. Then we played simon says as our activity.
Friday- We had zone training meeting. We talked about how we as missionaries need to catch the vision for ourselves of what our mission president has in mind and his goals. Then we went and had a lesson with one of our investigators. While in the process my pedal on my bike fell of and the bolt came loose. So we had to fix that.
Saturday- After we did studies we went out and tried to go visit some formers but on the way Elder Earnshaw ran over a thumb tack and popped the tube in his tire. So we had to walk his bike back about 2 miles. Then go get a new tube and fix it. Then we hurried and ran over to a members house to help him prepare his talk for sacrament. Then we went to dinner and then went to some meetings we had to attend.
Sunday- Church was really good. We helped him prepare the talk but he didnt show up. So Elders H and C stepped in and they spoke of the fly. They did an amazing job.

Friday through Sunday it was raining almost all day everyday. I love biking in the cold rain :)

Hope For Tomorrow

"he never promised that we would not weep. He only promised that he would wipe away our tears"

The focus this week was on the atonement. Use it. It is a great gift given to us so we can become who God wants us to be.

I hope you all have a great week

January 5

Monday- It was PDAY. We played a lot of basketball then we played gator ball which is soccer mixed with handball mixed with rugby. It is very interesting.
Tuesday- We went on exchanges with the zone leaders. They were great. We taught 3 lessons and all of them were a great success. Also this ladies car broke down in the middle of a major road. So we stopped and helped her push it for 1/4 of a mile. It was a workout.
Wednesday- We finished our exchange and then we tried to visit a few of our investigators before 7:00. At 7:00 we had to be inside our apartment because of New Years Eve.
Thursday- We had weekly planning and a lesson with our recent convert.
Friday- We had exchanges with the district leader and his companion. We exchanged after our district meeting. On the exchanges we helped one of their investigators work on his jeep. That was a lot of fun.
Saturday- We finished the exchange and we had a lesson with two of our investigators. There dad wont let them get baptized so we are meeting with them to see if we can soften his heart. The only problem is he lives 2 hours away so we are just praying that he will start to change his mind.
Sunday- Church was a little different. We got a new time and the schedule is reversed. So we go to Priesthood, then Sunday school, then to sacrament. It is really weird doing sacrament last. After church we went and had dinner at a member house. They are awesome.

Right now we are focusing on finding new investigators. We need a bigger teaching pool/

I hope you all had a great new years.

This is the dog of one of their investigators. He is 3/4 huskie 1/4 wolf. He was awesome.

December 22nd

Monday- I got a cold. We did our normal pday routines.

Tuesday- I really got the affects of the cold so today was spent inside sleeping

Wednesday- We got invited to spend it with two different families. At 5:00 we came to the church and played basketball and ate pizza and spent time with this one family in our ward they are awesome. Then later we went and spent some time with the Soukup family.

Thursday- We got picked up by a member and he took us back to his house and we got to skype for a little bit and eat with them. So everytime someone asks me the question what is the worst thing you have eaten on your mission. The next meal I get by a member tops it off. On skype someone asked me what the worst meal was. I had only had one before. For christmas we ate prime rib. The meat was cooked rare. I like my meat well done. It was still bleeding it was so rare. So yeah that was a fun experience. After we went to another families house and ate a second dinner. There they got a pogo stick for christmas. It was a vertigo. It is like a super pogo stick. That was so much fun to use. Then we went back to the Soukups and spent the rest of our night there until we had to go home

Friday- We had district meeting and we spent today doing our weekly planning and tried to contact some of our investigators. We had a lesson with one of our recent converts which was nice. We are starting to teach the new member lessons.

Saturday- We did service at our Bishops house for like 6 hours. We cut down trees and got firewood. We also went "rock hounding". Ask me at another time what that is. After we took showers and proselyted the rest of the night

Sunday- We went to church. After we tried to go see some less actives. Which we did come in contact with and we had some really good lessons. Today I finally had my first bike crash. It was a fun one. I flipped over my handle bars and then my bike flipped over me. It was awesome. My companion got a kick out of it.

This week was awesome. I hope this week you remembered the true meaning of Christmas.
I hope this week is great for you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Make some resolutions.... and actually do them. A lot of us are guilty for thinking of some but then never doing them.

Our zone leaders being goofy. Elder H(left in Santa suit) got asked to help out with something for a family. It was so funny. Great Elders

December 8th-

This week was crazy. So many things happened.
Monday- It was our zone activity and we played volleyball for the longest time. It was so much fun.
Tuesday- We did service so much today. We helped this older lady rake her yard. We raked so much. After we finished that we ate lunch and then helped this less active guy who is in a wheelchair clean out his RV. It rained briefly today
Wednesday- We went to the temple for Elder P birthday. We went with the YSA elders. When we got back we were supposed to have a lesson with one of our investigators but it fell through.
Thursday- We had weekly planning and tried to go visit our investigator family but they keep making up excuses to not meet with us so it fell though also.
Friday- We had district meeting and contacted referrals. We had bikes this half of the week and it started down pouring really bad. We were at the bottom of our area and we had to bike a 15 minute bike ride in the pouring rain. We got soaked. When we walked into the members house for dinner we could ring out our pants with all the water. We didn't get to dry off at all so during dinner we were cold and wet. Oh also the weather is like 50's so it was cold.
Saturday- We had the ward Christmas party today. It was so much fun getting to do that with the ward.
Sunday- We got transfer calls and i am training a missionary and i am getting moved to Palmdale. Transfers are on Tuesday so i will be getting a new area this week. I am really excited.

"the work is demanding but the impact is everlasting"

Have a great week everyone

December 1,2014

This week in life of Elder Loertscher not much happened.
Monday- we had a great pday and we went and found a few potentials
Tuesday- we helped this family set up some Christmas lights in the rain. Yes it rained here. Finally for the first time in forever. We had splits with the ward and went to visit members and less actives
Wednesday- we went to the homeless shelter and then after that we went and contacted all of our referrals.
Thursday- we had weekly planning and we tried to meet with our investigator family but they went home they went to the store instead of coming to our lesson.
Friday- we had district meeting and exchanges
Saturday- we finished exchanges and tried to contact less active members
Sunday- church was really good and afterwards we went and had a lesson with an investigator and watched the Christmas devotional which was super good.
We were short on time today so sorry it was so brief. We are having a zone activity which entails that we have to email earlier and less time.
I hope you all have a great week

Happy Thanksgiving

This week was awesome. We had a lot of service. On Wednesday we went to the homeless shelter and helped out for a couple of hours. Being there is such a humbling experience. We got to serve them food and before we helped cut the meat and prepare all the stuff. On saturday we broke a concrete slab with a jack hammer. It was so much fun to use it. We got to use a sledge hammer and destroy a fireplace. They needed a lot done to their backyard so we helped. This week we also finally got to meet with one of our investigator families. They were super cool. We got them committed to a baptism date so hopefully they can progress well to it.  Yesterday for my birthday this family invited us over for dinner. We ate pork chops and potato salad. Their daughter had her one year old birthday on Saturday so they had an extra cake that we got to eat. It was awesome. Then after dinner we showed up back home and some sisters in our district and zone decorated our apartment door and made cookies. It was an awesome week.

Have a great week and HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.

Make sure you let others know what you are thankful for.
